Despite having signed the NPT in 1975, Libya has openly declared an intention to develop nuclear weapons. They have repeatedly attempted to  obtain nuclear components. There is little evidence of progress in this quest however.It is suspected that they are attempting to acquire nuclear weapons ready-made.
